A collective of NGO’s, scientists, and solution providers have delivered multiple whitepapers calling for the mandate of filters in new washing machines, as the only effective, near-term solution to reduce the release of microplastics in the environment.
The whitepapers, which have been delivered to both the European Commission and UK’s Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, commends the ambition of these governing bodies to tackle microplastics pollution and presents three innovations that have been tested to high standards and are available now for commercial or industrial use.
